So lately I've been thinking that I would be really interested in getting into more food-related photography. I see it as the perfect way to combine two of my hobbies. I really enjoy my camera and taking pictures, and I love food, especially cooking. Thoughts have been going through my head to the effect of sitting down and making a cookbook and taking the pictures for it myself. As that goes, I would love some comments and criticisms about the next few pictures I put up or some of the older food-related photos I've posted in the past. Be blatantly honest with me, as that is the best way for me to make improvements and get to a point where I would be good enough to actually do something like that. Just bear in mind that right now I have no lighting equipment, so everything is taken under natural lighting, be it a window or the lights in the room at the time. Thanks!
Enjoy!

It looks tasteful but I think your focus is too much on the front part. What if you have a smaller, not focused part in the front? Right now the balance it's quite right.

For me the top left corner is a little distracting. I think the photo would be better if you had another orange half hanging out up there. Or perhaps something else to accent the orange, like some blueberries.
Also, I think that there is too much out-of-focus area in the front of the frame with the big orange half there. I would either have that part in focus or not emphasize it quite so much.
Finally, the photo seems a little on the dark side. When paired with such a bright subject, it kinda makes the orange look a little dirty.
Keep up the good work!
